  • New Distribution Center

    30 Dec

By the beginning of January 2012, we will begin to break ground on a new 4,000 SF distribution center behind our clothing closet. Because of the rapid growth we have experienced and the number of agencies and schools we now serve, we find it necessary to expand our facility. We know that this will improve our efficiency, increase our storage space, and be a safer place to work, unencumbered by the constraints of the limited space in the present closet.

With this new space, we’ll be able to serve many more needy children each year, which will have a residual positive impact on the community as a whole.

This brings us to our biggest asset- YOU, our volunteers and donors. Thankfully, two generous donors have stepped forward and will provide $40,000 towards this project if we can raise that amount of money ourselves to match it!

All donations are 100% tax deductible. You can pay by credit card by going to our Donations page, or send a check to:

    Lowcountry Orphan Relief
    PO Box 70185
    North Charleston, SC 29415

(Please be sure to designate the gifts to “LOR distribution center”)

    Birthday Gifts for LOR

    23 Jan

Little 6-year old Sayde Handegan collected donations for LOR instead of receiving gifts for her birthday.  She also brought stuffed animals that she still had a great fondness for.  It was hard for her to let go of some of her favorite stuffed critters, but she did so knowing that another child would be so HAPPY to love them like she did.  Thanks Sayde for proving that even the youngest can make a big difference!

A Special THANK YOU to the following….

    Palmetto Distribution to the Rescue!!

    13 Jan

    Suzanne, John, Jay and Bill

When Jay B. Medlin of Palmetto Distribution called LOR this a.m. to tell us he had roughly 947 pair of new underwear to donate, well you can imagine how excited we were!  Jay said that when he heard the ad that South Carolina Federal Credit Union (as you know SCFCU Rocks!) ran over the holidays asking for new socks and underwear to be donated to LOR, he knew he had to spring into action to do what he could to get our kids what they needed.  It took a little red tape but Jay, Suzanne, John and Bill delivered as promised.  Palmetto Distribution hopes to be able to volunteer at the Clothing Closet and provide more donations of new underwear to LOR in the near future.  Thanks so much Palmetto Distribution, we look forward to a great partnership!
