Sterling Brown from Army Wives makes a stop over to LOR!

We were so delighted to have actor Sterling Brown, best known for his role in Army Wives, stop by our facility for a tour. Mr. Brown was so impressed with the work that LOR does; he offered to shoot a video to create awareness for our non-profit. Many thanks for all your help Mr. Brown!!!

Mayor Riley Attends Candlelight Vigil

LOR was so pleased that Mayor Riley agreed to represent the City of Charleston by attending the Candlelight Vigil. The Blue Ribbon Council of South Carolina hosted this wonderful event to honor the victims of child abuse. It is LOR’s hope that events like these will increase awareness of child abuse right here in our backyard.

A Blue Ribbon Bookmark Making Machine!!!

Sydney Cox volunteered her time to make bookmarks for the Blue Ribbon Council of South Carolina, in honor of Child Abuse Awareness Month. We all appreciate how many bookmarks Sydney made and the time she took to do this for such a great cause.

MUSC packs LOR with donations!!!

Students from MUSC’s Masters in Health Administration Program were asked to complete a student project for a non-profit organization as part of their Healthcare Operations and Project Management class. Annie Tsui was designated as the project manager and her team organized the “Lowcountry Orphan Relief Uniform and Capital Drive.” Individual drives were set up at Pinewood Prep, St. Andrew’s City Church and Bishop England. The drives were all successful, particularly at Pinewood Prep. When Annie and her group dropped off the donations to LOR, we couldn’t fit them in our barn! Thanks again to a wonderful group of students and a job well done!

Palmetto Distribution to the Rescue!!

When Jay B. Medlin of Palmetto Distribution called LOR this a.m. to tell us he had roughly 947 pair of new underwear to donate, well you can imagine how excited we were! Jay said that when he heard the ad that South Carolina Federal Credit Union (as you know SCFCU Rocks!) ran over the holidays asking for new socks and underwear to be donated to LOR, he knew he had to spring into action to do what he could to get our kids what they needed. It took a little red tape but Jay, Suzanne, John and Bill delivered as promised. Palmetto Distribution hopes to be able to volunteer at the Clothing Closet and provide more donations of new underwear to LOR in the near future. Thanks so much Palmetto Distribution, we look forward to a great partnership!
